Ahh, one extra day in the weekend before real life starts again tomorrow. I love long weekends. I feel like I’m less rushed to do all the things I enjoy. This weekend I leisurely drank my coffee while reading, binge watched The Office on Netflix (Jim & Pam 4ever!), took the family swimming at Barton Springs (Austin’s local spring-fed swimming hole). Our last official summer weekend was a good one.

Tomorrow I go back to teaching my preschool class. My classroom mascot is the canary, and the entire room is decorated with birds. Do you remember Put a Bird On It! from Portlandia? It still cracks me up. Plus, for some reason, Blackbird by The Beatles has been on heavy rotation here. Along with Call Me Maybe. Maybe I shouldn’t admit that…

So, when I attended my parent orientation last week, I had to continue the theme. It’s preschool; it’s supposed to be cutesy. I wore my favorite flare jeans with a bird print tank. In other news, I need more time with grown ups!
