Baby Doll

Watermelon Pin

Earlier this week I went to co-work with other creative ladies here in Austin. One of the girls brought little goodies- pins and prints- for all of us. I was flattered when she handed me a pin she brought especially for me. “I carried a watermelon” it said. She thought it was cute because it referenced my kids. My thoughts went a different direction.

Can you place it? One of the most iconic movies of the past 30 years, and one of my favorites. Dirty Dancing. Remember, nobody puts Baby in the corner. I haven’t been able to get it out of my head since then. Everything about this movie- music, clothes, setting- takes you to another time.

I know this summer has been all about the 70’s revival in fashion, but the styles in Dirty Dancing can easily be worn today as well. Flouncy dresses, tied shirts, cut-off shorts, capri’s are all still totally relevant.

Here are a few things I found that are current but definitely have a sweet “Baby” look to them:

What do you think about these updated 60’s looks? Would you wear them?
